Ms.Emma Jackson's Ivy Rose Series is worth every second, minute, hour spent reading them. I've read all three novels in less than 48 hours. They contained every part of a good story one wishes to read. Drama, mystery, danger, vendetta, romance, humor. The characters were so well described that they cease being characters in books and become people who you want to become friends with. Ivy's life wasn't care free but she showed through kindness for her fellow man that she could share what little she had and made another person's life better. She become flesh and blood. Thank you Ms.Jackson for sharing your fictional characters of the Lane and I truly hope you shall continue the series, after all the villain should get his hard earned fall from grace.Product details

The writer brings in Margret Sanger, the proliferator of eugenics and sterilization as someone to be praised. The woman believed in curbing the birth rate of inferior races and the mentally deficient. Sanger is not to be praised for her work but rather be condemned for the thousands of people, due to her policies, were forcibly sterilized. (Source The War Against The Weak, Edwin Black)
Once again, enjoyed Gemma Jackson's continued tale from Dublin. Vividly written so you can feel the "haves" and the "have-nots" in period Ireland. Made me want to return for another visit!
I did not think that I would like this book when I started it, as the first tw chapters were pretty sad, but I really got into it. I loved all of the characters, and the descriptions of the poverty, class separations, and people of 1920s + Ireland. As the book progressed it became clear it was a book about hope, resiliance, and friendship, and some of it is funny. I got very hooked on Ivy and company, and read all three of the books in about a week. Also on the author's wedsite, she shows the actual area that this takes place in.
Nine times ten I will put aside a book of this genre as too boring to read and I take a long time wading through the other ten percent.
However, Gemma Jackson's Ivy Rose Series was beyond any book I've ever read in this genre and in the top percent of all the books I've read. It was exciting, not boring, had unexpected turns, not mundane, gripping scenes, not ho-hum ones. Where you wanted the bad guys to find their deserving deaths at the hand of some criminal, Gemma Jackson punished them far more severely and appropriately with a simple, unpredictable touch from a good character. Characters you thought would be evil, turned into angels, grouches and curmudgeons turned into pillars of support and strength in their community.
I could not put down the Ivy Rose books, I read the entire Ivy Rose Series in five days. Gemma Jackson seized my imagination and squeezed it with love of Ivy Rose.
I sat here in the evening for the past few weeks reading these 3 books & have felt I knew/belonged to Ivy Rose's family. I don't want it to end! I LOVED the story, the characters & Dublin. I WANT MORE! Gemma YOU ARE A WONDERFUL& BEAUTIFUL AUTHOR. Pls let me know your next book. Again, YOU & your HA'PENNY NOVELS WERE SO ENJOYABLE & LOVED!!!!!! MORE!!!!!!
Bummer! I just read the last page of this last book in the series. The story ended in a most satisfactory manner, but I didn't want to stop reading about Ivy Rose and Jem and their friends. The characters in all the books in the series were so well developed that I feel as though I know them. This book began at a good pace and just kept picking up speed. There were some rather unexpected events and some others that the reader may have hoped to see. I can't say much more without giving spoilers. The author managed to weave together all of the various threads into an ending I think most readers will be pleased with. I highly recommend this book, and the entire series, to any reader who enjoys historical novels.
I have just finished the 3 books in this series--how on earth has PBS not picked this up and developed it into a miniseries! It is that good! I would love to see these characters come to life. Being Irish myself and hearing about the poverty my father's relatives grew up in before sailing for America from Cork --these books really brought it to life. Yes, it was kind of a romanticized version but the detail and character development was superb! I hope there is more to come from this author!
